Allison Vest joins the Athletes Commission

Feb 5, 2020

The Climbing Escalade Canada (CEC) Athletes Commission (AC) is very happy to welcome Allison Vest to the team. Allison was voted onto the AC by her fellow athletes at the Open Bouldering Nationals (OBN) in Kanata, Ontario in January of 2020.

Allison has been climbing and competing for 19 years, and has been a member of our National Team since 2014. Allison is two time Open Bouldering National champion (2018, 2020) and 2019 Open Lead National champion.

While climbing and competing at a high level, Allison completed a Bachelor of Kinesiology Degree at the University of British Columbia, and has been coaching at the Hive in Vancouver since 2017.

Allison’s states her motivations for getting involved with the AC include wanting “to help develop the sport in Canada and allow up and coming athletes to have as good of an experience as I have had, if not better.” Allison hopes “to act as a voice for the opinions of athletes and to be an ear that athletes can talk to.”

The purpose of the AC is to represent and promote the views and interests of the various athletes of Climbing Escalade Canada (CEC) to the CEC’s Board of Directors and management on all issues which directly or indirectly affect athletes.

The AC is currently made up of:
President: Stacey Weldon- Retired national team athlete- CEC board of directors with full voting rights (Up for re-election 2021)
